Erectile Dysfunction |

Erectile dysfunction is another way of describing impotence in many cases. Impotence is the inability to begin or keep an erection for any period of time. ED pumps also known as penis pumps are commonly used to help as a treatment option for impotence. Common causes for impotence include male hypogonadism. This is a condition where the body does not make enough testosterone, which is responsible for development during the time of puberty. This can be a condition that appears at any time, or a male can be born with it. Erectile dysfunction or impotence can be due to many things including but not limited to atherosclerosis, medicines, depression or anxiety as well as diabetes. Impotence can also be a sign of heart disease, which also has factors that contribute including diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and smoking. Treatments for impotence includes ED pumps or penis pumps and medication or even penile implants. ED pumps or penis pumps are the most common noninvasive treatment for erectile dysfunction. These pumps are called vacuum constriction devices as well, and are made of a plastic tube that fits over the penis, along with a few rubber constriction bands. The one thing that differs from pump to pump is the pump itself. Some come with a hand pump and others offer a battery powered pump. The penis is inserted into the pump and the hand or battery pump is used to remove the air from the plastic tube the penis sits inside. This causes there to be more pressure outside of the tube than inside, and the penis begins to enlarge. The fact that the penis is enlarging without vascular help makes the blood rush to this area, fooling the body into thinking there is an error. When this occurs, an erection is achieved. |
